Happy New Year!!
This post was actually inspired by a question that I posted on my Facebook page. I asked my friends to share with me the word that describes what they want their journey to look like for 2018? The responses poured in numbers which was so refreshing to see. So I thought this would make a great first blog post for the year.
I didn’t want to send out the same old cookie-cutter message that everyone normally sees as New Year inspiration. Let me drop this right here. There will be no resolutions this year in my house, only inspirations.
But as I was thinking about this, I kept hearing, “Shaundra, what’s your word?” And then I said it out loud to myself. Hmmm….”What IS my word?”
“2018 will be my year to ELEVATE every area of my life.”
And what I felt like my spirit was really asking me was, “what is the word that will guide you throughout this year?” So the first word that came to mind was ELEVATE. That is exactly what I see this year being for me. 2018 will be my year to ELEVATE (raise to a more important level) in every area of my life. Health, Finances, Self-Care, Time with Family, School…the list can go on and on.
One thing I will NOT be doing is going to any vision board parties, so don’t invite me. I won’t be writing affirmations on sticky notes and posting them all over my home. But I WILL be doing something different this year. I will be utilizing my dry-erase whiteboard in my office area with words, thoughts, agendas, and inspirations as they come.
So as you prepare for the new year, think about what you want your year to look like and attach a word to it. What is the word that is going to inspire you to be the best this year? What will you do differently this year? Will you resolve conflict in a healthier way? Will you decide to make phone calls instead of text messages? Find the common denominating message in all the things you want to accomplish and give it a WORD.
I would love to hear what your word is. Share with me below in your comments.
I pray that you live out whatever word you choose to dictate your year!
God’s Blessing,
Shaundra
